Depending on where you live, the best solution for finding these magnificent chips can be adjacent to your local US base. Any Doritos found in Itaewon are just markups from Yongsan Garrison's PX, anyway. You'll see that they never have the Korean imported food label or sticker--they ALL come from military stores. Sometimes you'll even get a PX bag to carry them in.
For those living in Gyeonggi, there are a bunch of gray-markets near Osan's Main Gate in Songtan that usually have 2 or 3 flavors of Doritos in stock, including Cool Ranch and the otherwise quite rare Spicy Nacho.
I would NOT bother buying Lotte's 'licensed' version of Nacho. Somehow I don't trust it will taste right. Like Snickers bars here, or original Lay's chips in China, something will just be off. |

This is one of the reasons why I love being in the Philippines. No problem finding American products like this.
Man it's 2012 and you can't even go to the supermarkets there and buy a bag of Doritos. |

Actually, I think their "Mexican" nachos are a reasonable knockoff of Doritos Cool Ranch. |

| I found them at a mart in sinchon. Just a normal mart that sells Korean stuff. Like the other poster said, its made by frito-lay. It was only 1200won. It was good, but I haven't had Doritos for a long time, so I don't remember the taste really. |

Doritos have been commonplace in the marts since at least 2004 -
as for same-name-made-elsewhere products - the first (and last) time I tasted a Korean Gatorade I gagged and threw it away - was hideously gross! don't know why but tasted awful |

Lotte is now manufacturing Doritos in Korea under license from Frito-Lay. Lotte also produces other Frito-Lay brands in Korea (Cheetos, Sun Chips, etc). In time you'll see these in convenience stores all over the country, and they won't cost an arm and a leg like the imported ones in Itaewon.

Considering the bang-up job Lotte has done with Cheetos, I'll be sure to keep my expectations extremely low. |

Great, now I'll be smelling Dorito breath on students and getting smeared with cheese residue when one grabs me.
If only they could import decent tortilla chips, not the movie theater yellow discs. The Kirkland ones aren't much better. Baby carrots for snacking would be great as well.
I'm surprised my guilty pleasure food of pork rinds hasn't made it big over here considering every other part of the pig seems to get eaten....That and Corn Nuts. |

i tried the korean doritos this weekend and can say they are spot on with texture and general taste. the bag i found was gold colored and the flavor was a cheese of some kind. it wasn't as "cheddary" as the nacho cheese or nearly as red in color, but the taste was excellent. not a shred of the awful sweet taste they ruin all chips with here in korea.
100% recommended. |
