A good sign to know if you have a problem is if you see a lot of cockroach fecal matter around. I think boric acid is messy. So I leave the killing to Raid roach killer.

I used to be a licensed Pest Control Tech back home. When I came (back) to Korea, I brought some of my prized insecticide with me. I'm safe, sorry that you aren't.

2 facts about treating roaches.

They are easily spread to other apartments. Insecticide applications in your place might spread them to your neighbour's. You might have roaches because your neighbour sprayed. Your apartment AND the adjoining apartments must be treated.

Thankfully the insecticides here in Korea are way more potent than back home. The chemicals off the shelf here are nearly the same as "commercial" grade stuff back home. There is a "residual" effect of the sprays here. The insecticide will last for up to 4 weeks in the areas of application.

Unfortunately I've had a bad roach experience in Seoul but I hope my advice can help. If you see roaches (even a few) during the day it does mean there are certainly more in your home than you may think. I would see the odd roach during the day and thought nothing of it. One night I was out late and came home to find roaches all throughout my kitchen. Maybe it was an over-reaction but I called Cesco the next day. They are truly experts and dealt a fatal blow to the roach population. The treatment was about 80,000KRW but I haven't seen any roaches in months.

Hi me again.

Update. So initially I had 2 medium sized roaches about 3 days apart. Yesterday I saw 2 smaller creatures that looked like roaches but they were black. They weren't brown like the medium sized ones.

I'm very uncomfortable in my new place at this stage. I got those bait things that you stick to the bottom of the wall but am wondering, is that just inviting more roaches into my apartment? Would the scent carry that far?

Also, how does he cesco thing work. I know they spray every surface but if there are holes in walls surely the roaches will start coming in eventually again? Or does the spray act as a long term repellent or what? If so, how when I shower, will the water not affect the potency of the stuff they spray in the bathroom?

And would I have to pack up stuff?

And does anyone have a number for them?

Any chance the landlord should pay as I've just moved in to an unexpected problem?

How much are cesco to call out?
Anyone use them COMBAT wall disc things? Are they bait or an actual deterrent?

And where can I buy traps?

1 year without a cat and I never saw a cockroach. 3 months with a cat and the cat has killed 3. I'd imagine that a lot of apartments have them but most people will never see them.

We've had a couple of big ones in the bathroom, but they are the outside cockroaches, and they seem a little put out being stuck in a gleaming, tiled room (until we blast them with the spray, that is). I assume they come up through the pipe in the corner of our bathroom. I have taken to randomly spraying that every now and then and haven't seen another one yet.

No regular house cockroaches (touch wood!)
