Ah, this probably has nothing to do with this, but I remember something I heard once when I was living in the dorms way back when.

I remember someone saying that if there were a particularly annoying or abusive person who just wouldn't take a hint, people would make a 'tipper' for them.

I remember someone saying that a 'tipper' was a large garbage can filled with water stewed with garbage and partially rotted food. If I recall, I think they said that they'd then lean this precariously against said terrible person's door, knock loudly, then run off at light speed. When the verbally and physically abusive person would open the door...well, you get the picture...whoooooosh!

Seems to my recollection that that humbled many an abusive offender.

But, like I said, not really applicable here.

It wouldn't work because the doors open outward here (at least everywhere I've lived). But a friend of mine once did something better: he had a very noisy neighbor who wouldn't quiet down no matter what. He took a bottle of crazy glue and with a sharp knife, whittled the tip to a fine point. He shoved the tip as far into the lock of his neighbor's door and squeezed the whole bottle inside. This was in the middle of the night, so they couldn't get out of their house the next morning; they had to get someone to take the door of its hinges and replace the lock. I think they quieted down after that. Twisted Evil

Great point. That did hit me after I pushed the button. Guess one could still hope for backwash, though!

The glue caper was truly vindictive and destructive. And perfect! Twisted Evil

Wow, Emark, what a terrific bolt of common sense. So stylish, trendy, and adapted to local culture. We'll all remember your advice next time you get hit by a motorcycle and are lying on the road.

Thank you. I'm sure that opportunity will probably not arise. If the bike hits me, he'll be splattered all over the side of my car.

Okay, I guess it's hard to get involved as a foreigner... but, couldn't you do something positive for him?

It won't change the neighbors (they're pretty much jerks), but maybe if you could show some kindness like inviting him over or bringing him dinner or something. Small gestures like that would at least let the guy know that someone cares to at least notice him.

On leaving the city/country (as many of us do) I'd be tempted to knock on her door to shout some abuse on the final day, and if she gets physical; drop her with a left hook. Then get the hell out of there and don't look back

I can see that going horribly wrong though, not to mention giving foreigners a bad name. Bad idea.

Filling the keyhole with glue is quite good.

Why not a right?

Right is better, surely.

Weigookin,

We are moving out, our 2 year contract expires in late Feb. Like I said, it doesn't bother us that much anymore. It's the old man that has the troubles..

Lol.

Good on ya Emark. I don't completely agree with what your saying but I'll take your honesty over Pablos condemnation. Pablo you must be exhausted? Return to your fortress of solitude for a break.
