There are always gives and takes with teaching jobs in Korea. You want to make the bigger bucks then you are going to work some crazy hours at a school that you would not be sure you would be paid on time or go with a bigger named school and have much less hours (which also means less pay) but have a very stable environment. It's always up to the teachers but the sad thing is the newbies only find out after they come here, no matter how much others tries to warn them, they only learn once they are here.

Ok I have been in my contract for six months. It is a crappy contract because I wasn't really all that informed when I signed it.

I don't understand what you mean by not being informed...did you not read the contract? What does it say?

She may have read the contract with a fine toothed comb and still not been well informed. If you've never taught before, you might not realize how much of a workload 120 hours a month of classtime can actually be including admin and prep time, or how long a day that can be with splits.

There's a lot you just don't know until you get here, and put some time in. The OP probably just didn't know the pitfalls. She's learning the hard way, just like a lot of us have had to.

Her quote "In my contract I am supposed to work 165 classes a month"

Also when she started she was working 10 classes a day. My question (and I should have been clearer) was did she think this was normal. Did she post or seek ANY advice before signing it? In other words did she do any research before signing a contract.

So again what does not being "informed" mean?

Discostar,

What is going on with this?

Have you had words with the owner?

The Korean government should include such information on webpages where you can "Learn About Korea."

"Dynamic Korea, the Hub of Asia" introduces the Korean economy, culture, sports, IT industries, and many more, as seen through the eyes of foreigners.
