glorified hakwons with the name international in the title!

most of the students are Koreans, the kids all speak Koreans, the white kids are the novelty which Korean parents want, they force their kids to make friends with the white kids.
for 30 grand a year, I would send my kid to the BEST private school in my country, and that is worth the money!

My friend worked at an international school in Seoul, but she made about the same as at a regular hagwon... But, that might have had to do with the fact that it was a religious international school and the focus was supposed to be on God's work rather than on pay...

Looking on Dave's job board...

Yes, anyone can put "international" in their name- look for the curriculum and whether or not it is accredited by CIS or IB or anything else.

I am very suprised to see the Saudi schools paying 50,000 per month. I have some friends who worked ther at different IB schools and made significantly less than that per year. They did make up for it by tutoring, but 50/month would be 600,000 USD/year, would it not?

ttom is spot on (as usual).

Be wary of schools using the word "International" as this does not mean they are true international schools.

For those real schools, conditions are far better than a typical Hakwon or Korean PS job but the required qualifications and experience are also far higher!

As for tuition, in real international schools it is typically paid byt the student's parent's employer (government, company).
