I think your poll omits another important option. Further education with smart professors can notch up your thinking for life. Isnt that the point?

Its not necessarily all about equating degrees with money.

Plus there's also the sense of accomplishment...and I gotta tell you that you get to learn an awful lot about yourself as a person when you are working on your MA thesis/dissertation. Yes, introspection is good.

OP - Several years ago, I was like you...asking similar questions about getting a MA. Now, several years after completion, I can easily say that YES it is 110% worth it! I found a program that was reputable and reasonably priced (I would even say cheap). It easily paid for itself and opened bigger and better doors! In addition, like another poster mentioned, personal satisfaction is priceless!

Good Luck!

For a job as a Native English teacher, I sort of doubt it. I am as of this moment applying for Korean public school jobs and I've decided to try without disclosing my overseas Master's. If I actually get enough data on this I'll let the board know.

Generally if you're not required to disclose something or if it's "irrelevant" it's best not to disclose it. K-12 schools become interested when you have a teaching license with experience. Although in the US some states require that you eventually gain a Masters, at least that's what I've heard.

I've thought about going to Korea and marrying a Korean, I basically like Korean women anyway.
