Yeah me too, but I'm super effing paranoid about it. I always keep my bike in the apartment, and if I lock it outside somewhere, it's during the day on a busy street. |

I had a 3 ton floor jack stolen out of my carport in broad daylight! Damn chicken thieves. (Taj Mahal - Cakewalk into town) |

Those cable locks only offer a false sense of security. The ones with thumb-wheels can be opened without tools. I've known the trick since I was 8 or 9 (some older kid at school showed us how to do it when one of my friends couldn't open his bike lock). The method is so simple, I think it should be illegal to sell those locks.
I just found out the trick works for a variety of locks, too. The other day, my kid found a lock in a drawer, one of those with push-buttons, and I managed to find the correct combination in about 30 seconds using the same method.
Needless to say, I store our bikes indoors. |
