but the Korean military are given billions of dollars to buy new weapons which will never see combat! military soldiers are given pensions to the day they die, free houses, cars, drivers for the ranked officers, government workers the same. NO social welfare in this country ..
but a military budget which benefits a few companies. |

So are you saying that the Korean government needs to force Korean families to adopt unwanted babies? |

Military for protection with one of the most crazy regimes armed to the teeth on your border? I think South Korea has no choice but to spend on their military even if they'd rather not. The Korean and US alliance serves a peaceful purpose and that is to serve as a deterent to the Norks who would come down here and kill. It's called self defence.
Countries with a large military can have some social welfare. The US does, except for free medical care (but has some medical care programs). But it has all the other things that other countries have. Social security, unemployment, welfare, student loans, ect. |
