Biden was awful.

If the worst the opposition can say is 'he was awful', 'he rolled his eyes', then you know he did well.

A few centuries ago Jonathan Swift pretty much nailed it when he wrote about two countries having a war over whether to crack open an egg at the wide end or the narrow end. I would posit that when people post 'he laughed too much' as their criticism, then things have gotten pretty much into the realm of Swift. Style has over-taken substance.

I can't help but wonder what Washington would have thought when Voter A says, "I'm voting for Candidate X because Candidate Y's eyebrow went up a quarter inch more than the other guy's during the debate."

My thoughts:

1. Biden should have held back on the smiles and facial expressions. I knew that would turn people off and it made him come across as arrogant and dismissive.

2. He had some great zingers, especially when he brought up Ryan's letter to him asking for stimulus funds. Gotta love hypocrites!

3. Ryan once again was vague on policy.

4. Ryan impressed me on Libya and pressing Biden on that. He was ok on Iran, but Biden pretty much stuck it to him in the end about what else could be done.

Anyway, I admit I just watched the first 30-45 minutes. Definitely didn't get dull, I just thought the baseball playoffs were a more pressing matter. Very Happy

If that's what neutral parties are saying, you know he didn't do well.
Though I'd imagine you see anyone who's said anything bad about your men as "the opposition".

Please feel free to offer another word than 'opposition'.

If I were (a hypothetical construct) to choose a word, I would choose the word 'traitor' since on Jan. 20, 2009 the leadership of the opposition party chose to meet and plan a 100% obstructionist policy in a time of extreme national emergency. Other than the Federalist Party in 1814 when they met at Hartford, I can't think of a time when a party out of power decided to adopt such a policy. The Federalists destroyed themselves. I can only hope that the same happens to the current anti-American party.
