I looked at my contract and here is what it says exactly.
Article 2: Salary
1) The employee shall be compensated as shown below.
A. Monthly compensation shall be 2.8 million Korean won.
B. Severance compensation of approximately the average of one month salary shall be provided to the employee at the completion of the Term of Employment.
So does this mean my severance must be 2.8 regardless of how my money is labeled when paid to me? |
If that is the only thing you signed, then it seems pretty cut and dry. They owe that if you have received that much. Making 2 or 20 payments to add up to it is not to my knowledge going to exonerate them from the contract agreement you pasted.
There is no bonus, and there is no overtime as I see it in your situation. It is strictly one month, 2.8. Did you sign anything else?
If you have bank statements to show 2.8 coming in, then stand firm on the severance issue. How about airfare? Are they going to buy the ticket? Are they going to give you money? They could be jerks if they originally planned to just give you money and now decide not to do that. Find out about pension also, have they paid into it? Do you need to go to your home country or will you transfer to a new school? |
