For what it's worth, Kia's new president is German.

I heard his actual title in his contract is "Assistant" president. He has a Korean co-president. Razz

Oh, that's probably because of something in the constitution of the Korean Automakers Association (or whatever it's called). Something about the president of the association having to be Korean and the presidency rotating between the presidents of the different automakers. If I recall correctly, a few years back, it was the president of GM-Daewoo (now just GM)'s turn to be the head of the association, but he wasn't Korean so his vice-president served as head of the association (or something like that).

I wonder if he's on Dave's CEO Cafe...

"Yeah, man, the chairman of the board keeps asking me if the Kimchie is spicy 10 times a day even though I've been here for years... and at lunch time in the company cafeteria the VP of Logistics kept re-arranging my food dish saying this how is how you're supposed to eat your food...

Man, I'm thinking about doing a Midnight Run...

A business degree helps, but is not absolutely necessary. I know a bunch of graduates from my university who are employed in business in Asia with BAs. Who you know is far more relevant than what you studied.
Case in point: the guy working for the Canadian government and running his own consulting business with what I presume is a B. Ed. Correct me if I'm wrong, Patrick. To close the loophole in what Patrick was saying, you won't get anywhere knowing the language and culture if you don't have qualifications, experience or connections.

I took courses and obtained a certificate before opening my agency....it saved me tons of headaches and provided me with much needed knowledge and skills. As you said, I also had a pretty decent network by the time I started my consulting business. I certainly did not get hired as a executive by a foreign company.
