Dude, that's dated 10 years ago. A lot has changed since then, especially in small towns. |

It all depends on whether you're fond of Gyeongsang-do or not. If you lean politically to the left, avoid Gyeongsang-do at all cost. If you hate aggressive people, avoid Gyeongsang-do at all cost.
I recommend Seoul or any surrounding city around Seoul. To most of the Koreans, they think:
Seoul = good
Gyeongsang-do = evil
That's about it. |
Don't think left and right labels apply the same way they do here as in North America bro. The right is seen as not liking foriegners back home but here is more often identified with the left. I'd leave the Korean politics to the Koreans. |

what is this?
From what I've experienced, Koreans like Seoul because they feel it's trendier. Seoul is the big city, it's where everything is happening. I've met people who were born in Seoul and moved to a country city when they were 5 months old but prefer to introduce themselves as a 'Seoul-lite' just because they're ashamed of having grown up in the countryside. It's ridiculous but image is important here so I suppose that's why some do it.
Sure, there is a little difference in overall personality but it's nothing to worry about.
Life in Korea is what you make it. If you come with an open mind, you'll be okay. I've met plenty of good people in Pohang, from extremely rich and educated to just regular joes. I could even say that people in Pohang are friendlier than those in Seoul. |

It's also 34 pages long with many posts made much more recently. Granted, not much since 2011, but figured something was better than nothing (hence why I said it might help a little, as opposed to a lot). |
