it's pretty simple really friend of mine had the same problem kinda, you can do a double major but you will only get two degrees if your other major is in a different faculy (ie English and Biology) but you have to get the right amount of credits required for each facutly ( BA and BSC) in order to get both a BA and BSC otherwise it's just a double major.. and a degree won't say that. your transcripts will that's about it..

I find it weird that your diploma doesn't state what your major was on the piece of paper. My diploma states it is a Bachelor of Arts, and then goes on to say I received my B.A. in Honours Political Science... an on and on. What school did you go to?

Thank you! My degree doesn't say what I did to deserve that degree. I was starting to think that was completely normal.

Anyway, I went to Green Mountain College. If you want to look at their site it's www.greenmtn.edu

I know what majors I was in, so yes I know what I went to school for. I just wondered about the degree itself. I can't quite explain why this is so important but iit has nothing to do with the degree itself but what it represents for my family.

I can accept having the one degree, I just want to be clear about the reasons why I only have one. People have already explained it to me, something the registrar's office at my school failed to do.

If you did *all* the classes for both degrees (and all the exams?) it seems odd that you shouldn't have two degrees. A previous poster said they require you to do extra credits sometimes so it would probably be worth your while getting a few extra credits if so.

My degree is a joint one, but I only did half the required classes for each subject. But the British system is different so that's probably not relevant to you...

Hmm...so my school offered say a BA in Poli Sci and a BS in Engineering, and let's say I double majored in Poli Sci and Engineering. In that case do I actually get two diplomas?

My degree doesn't say what I majored in. It actually doesn't even say Bachelor of Arts, it says "Baccalaurealum in Artibus"...but I guess that's okay Very Happy

At my school, you would get 2 diplomas because one is a B.A. and the other is a B.S.

I suppose all schools are different, so what works for one school doesn't work for another. Oh well....

That's interesting...kind of like two minors for one degree? Sounds like a good idea to me.

I had the same questions as the op when I graduated. I think it's silly the schools in the US don't indicate the "extra mile" a graduate has gone to complete a double-major. A diploma is just a piece of paper, but the words on it are supposed to represent something. (SIREN WAIL...Brag alert!)...I completed undergrad degree requirements in both fine arts/comms and humanities (totally different colleges, staff, and courses beyond general ed) but I had to choose which one would appear on the diploma.

Now that is just wrong. At my school, my good friend got 2 degrees...one for fine arts (Art) and one for a bachelor of sciences (Philosophy). It's just not fair! But each school is different, where did you go in the school? Don't have to name it just the region....maybe it's a regional difference since colleges are accredited by different accreditting bodies??
