The Italian-Americans thumped Canada 14-4.

Big nasty brawl in Canada and Mexico! YOu dont bunt with a six run lead, and if you do then you know that some one is going to get one put in their ear. unwritten rules of baseall.

this got out hand when full plastic water bottles were being thrown out of the stands and Iorg threw it back. Most baseball fights are for show, really hugging and stuff this got mean.

I just looked at the US roster. Sure it could be better, but there are some big names playing. Is there a better player in the MLB than Ryan Braun in the outfield? Also, Joe Mauer as catcher? Their team is not too shabby. Vogelsong, Dickey, Gonzalezz as starting pitchers. Kimbrel and Bell as relievers. Phillips, Wright, Rollins, Zobrist, and Hosmer for infielders. Adam Jones, Victorino, and Stanton as outfielders. This team is not too shabby at all.

yep I am going to have to agree its better than other WBC's teams for sure but there are some names i would love to see on the team. I am sure fans of the game and of the WBC. would love to see an Upton or a Bryce harper perform.

But I think the WBC as a platform to spread the game is working. It's fun!!

USA defeats Canada 9-4; Hosmer with a huge bases-clearing double in the 8th inning.

Morneau went 7-11 in the tournament for the canucks, but the US had too deep of a roster for them.

Korea sucked and choked. Nothing new there.

Are the locals blaming the tie breaker rules on why they're eliminated?

I wonder if there is any coverage of the classic in Korea, now that they took the plunge in the first round. If they ignore it completely, then it's almost as if it never happened.

Unwritten yes, but you do know why they were bunting though?

I disagree rollo. In any other game or situation, of course you would never bunt up six, but with the way the WBC is set up, every run counts. Canada needed every run they could get, and with the US having yet to play (at the time) they had to put up as many as possible.

I'm assuming this is along the lines of what jvalmer is thinking.

Yep; every run counts. In the WBC format, running up the score on your opponent or not could be a determining factor on whether or not your team will move to the next round. It's not ideal, but that's the most fair way they could set the rules with such a short tournament.

Mexico was all ticked that Canada bunted while up 9-3. Too bad; Canada had just lost 14-4 to Italy the day before. Are the Koreans still watching? They should be. The 2017 WBC is just around the corner...

US is eliminated after back-to-back loses to the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. Maybe this humiliation will inspire more US players to play in the tournament.

hey i understand running up the score. Who needs sportsmanship when you are playing for a meaningless trophy. Start a fight , assault someone smaller, all part of the game.

The D.R is the most talented team in the tournament, they should win it but usually they do not play to their talent level, this year may be different.

The U.S. really needed Wright, but they also need some other stars to want to play in this tournament

Semi-Finals set:

Puerto Rico v Japan
Netherlands v Domincan Republic

I would be shocked if Japan doesn't make it through to the final. Domincan should win but I wouldn't be surprised if the Netherlands pulls off another upset.

The D.R. always seems to blow it. Yeah i look for the Dutch to pull this one out.

Japan yeah they have the talent and the experience. but this could be a shocker.
