Fracking:

An interest thing I learned, can't remember where, of why fracking is all over the US but not Canada is related to private property rights. In the US the land owner owns the gas under his land, but in Canada the government owns the gas/minerals under private land. So in the US there's an incentive for a private owner to allow exploration, he get's paid, but in Canada, only the govt. get's paid.
