Mostly good movie etiquette. However, the very first time, and only time, I saw a kids' movie in Korea, about 10 years ago, was absolutely awful. Saw Shrek and it was a madhouse. Kids running up and down the aisles, throwing popcorn at each other. Mothers just encouraging this behavior. Not sure what it's like now, but if I see a bunch of kids going into a movie, I'll turn the other way.

Ive had maybe 2 bad experiences in theatres in Korea.

Compared to the States where Ive had more bad than good ones.

Koreans are much more quiet in the theatre. Not to mention you get to buy your seat, instead of waiting in line in the States. Korean theatres are better by a mile

The behavior is much better than in the USA, but the movie selection? Let's not go into that because I do enjoy action movies. But why do we have to see every Nicolas Cage movie just because of his wife?

I think the movie etiquette here is awesome. People are really polite and the assigned seating is common in large cities in the US-BTW

But the CHEWING!!!I know Koreans eat rather nosily anyway, but combine that with popcorn and it can be overwhelming.

I guess I didn't mind rudeness in theaters as much when I was a kid. Of course, don't expect the audience to be quiet at a screening of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show."

Watching a movie in Manila is pretty weird-people coming and going, talking on cell phones, etc. But everytime I went, the theatre was ice cold, a nice break from the heat outside, plus they're dirt cheap.

Texting during a movie is becoming the norm in Korea. It makes sense since people are literally addicted to their smart phones. It's probably just going to get worse.

I realize I'm in the minority but I prefer first come first served to assigned seating. I like not having to buy tickets in advance to get a good seat. It also leads to people coming late, although with all the commercials they show, that's not much of a problem anymore. I believe hell will freeze over the next time a Korean movie starts on time.

Also, serious movies, when they do come to Korea, are usually shown only once or twice a day and one of those times is usually around 11. I got a kick out of one movie showing that was listed at 25:10. A 25-hour a day movie theatre!

i made the mistake of going to a non-megaplex theatre in cagayan de oro in the philippines one time to see cloud atlas. the display was worse than a make-shift blanket projector and the sound system was nonexistant (really a pair of britz speakers could have probably done a better job) and there were only filipinos in there using it as a napping room.

then i went to a megaplex theatre and it was great and no one used their phones or were going in and out.

the chinese are the worst cinema attendees in my opinion. it's unbearable to watch movies with them.

the "interactive theatres" in brooklyn are by far the worst.

I have, in Crenshaw, Los Angeles. I don't remember it being that bad, though there were people who laughed really loud or expressed emotions loudly.

I've never seen a movie in China or the Philippines, but compared to my experiences in Canada, I have to say that I think Korean movie theatre etiquette isn't great. I don't think I've ever been to a movie here where I haven't had to ask someone to stop talking and without rampant text messaging (the bright lights are very distracting).

I make a point of putting my phone on airplane mode before the movie starts, and I wish everyone did too. If I owned a movie theatre, I'd put a huge cell phone signal blocker in every theatre.

It's gotten so much better than when I was a kid. A decade ago people treated the theater like their living room. I loved going to the movies as a kid in the states and I hated it when I came back. Loved it again and now I hate it again because of all the commercials Confused

If you hate the commercials just do what I do and show up late to every movie. It works like a charm, seriously. 10 minutes.
