is it possible to get a smartphone with service for about 40,000W |
Yes!
I just did it ^-^
I was with LG.
Went to local KT shop in June 2013. (official, not an independent dealer)
Signed up for 2 year phone service contract AND
30 month phone payment plan (assume they are different lengths to stop you switching to other company after 2 years are up)
No signup/connection fee.
Got Vega R3 phone + free case. (This phone is slightly outdated now, as new Vegas just released I think)
Kept same phone number. (note prepaid numbers cannot be ported to post pay numbers and vice versa)
Job done.
unlimited calls to any kt phone (you must have LTE)
some limited amount of calls to other networks (120, 180 mins?) before being charged
unlimited texts to any korean number (you must have LTE)
750mb data
access to kt olleh wifi (ubiquitous and works excellently)
Total monthly cost:
first month (not quite a complete month) W36,860
second month (complete month) W39,810
Discount calculations are insanely complicated but I understand this much:
signing at least a 1 year phone service contract (note, not phone hardware contract) gets you a good discount compared to a monthly rolling contract.
switching from another provider to kt gets you a discount. (and same with other 2 companies)
After 2 years?
After 30 months?
I will re-sign with KT, as most of my friends and family seem to be with them. (though maybe they will switch?)
I have no issue using this phone for a LONG time, as long as it still works, as that's my style.
Phone shop tell me phone hardware cost is roughly w7000 per month.
So does that mean you can bring your own LTE phone and get this phone service contract for W33,000 per month?
I have no idea! Korea isn't often that simple.
But anyway, 2nd hand 1st gen LTE phones seem to be selling for around W120,000 these days. |
