I like Rob Ford. He's not a thief. He hasn't been charged with a crime let alone convicted of one. His policies are popular with many in TO.
I don't care about what he does in his free time. Its none of my business.
Most of the people who have a problem with his personal life are hypocrites. |

Some think that Rob Ford has done a lot to uproot corruption in the political world...I wonder if that's true?
FWIW, As a Canadian, I've been in Korea for almost 17 years. I identify myself as an internationalist. (I think Einstein was a bit like that as well.) Lines drawn on the ground are completely artificial. I am a simple loving earthling. Nothing more and nothing less. |

Canada is really just a part of the United States, but the government doesn't want them to know that. |
Education fail. Logic fail. Reality fail. Where'd you get your degree? The Ann Coulter School of Uneducated Blather? or Rush Limbaugh Center for Ignorance as a Virtue.
You're an embarassment. |

What's your opinion, was Korea better back then or is it better now? |

What did you want for it? The US (like all countries) does what's in its own best interests first and foremost.
As a pro-America Canadian, I'm very happy to benefit from the sphere of American interests. eg. trading interests, military, energy, protection of shipping lanes, etc. |

I'm sorry guys, but this is deviating from the original deviated topic of this thread: Rob Ford. |

I thought I would revive this old thread that I started to discuss the greatness of Rob Ford, considering he's got the cancer. |

I love Rob Ford. He's got bigger balls than any politician out there. He did a good job and most importantly he is not a thief. |

I didn't realize just how nationalistic Canadians were.
I got so sick of Koreans boasting about Korea and being so damned concerned with other country's opinions (or lack thereof) of them. I always brought it up with my gf and pointed it out whenever I could.
THEN we went to Canada and she gave me a taste of my own medicine. Now, I love my country and I think Canada is a genuinely nice place, but we are way too proud of ourselves sometimes. It's like we try to take credit for the beautiful landscapes and whatnot.
One example that stands out for me was when my gf and I went into Chapters (a book store) and they had posters all over the store proclaiming that "The world needs more Canada" or something to that effect. My gf laughed when she pointed it out and started chanting, "Canada number 1! Canada number 1!" while jabbing her index finger in the air. This is something I would often do upon hearing any sort of boastful comment about Korea.
Any Canadians remember the "Canada kicks ass" T-shirts and bumper stickers that were all the rage in the 2000s? Too much! |
Canada is very similar to Korea in that both countries are suffering from some type of inferiority complex. We all know Korea has been assf--ked by its powerful neighbors throughout most of its history, but most people don't know that Canada too has this strange relationship with its powerful neighbor. It is always obsessed with what the US thinks of it, like a jilted gay man constantly craving attention from an alpha male who doesn't give a f--k about him, so bath mouthing him behind his back, or constantly stalking or strutting around him like a cross-dresser...still seeking validation from him. Sad and pathetic.

That is funny. I grew up in Texas, which was like a country in itself, and the whole "Don't mess with Texas" thing was everywhere: bumper stickers, billboards, merchandise, etc. It was originally a slogan against littering, but the rest of the country had another impression. |
Speaking of Texas, it too is suffering from some form of inferiority complex towards its northern states. Texas was a defeated nation after the Civil War, just like Korea and Canada.
In a way, all three countries are losers. |
