I agree with cj1976. I like my ipod, but prefer windows- except for creative stuff- then Apple is awesome! (The only thing that I don't like about Apple is the lack of a delete key. (Having only a back-button is very limiting.)

BTW, thinking about the Itaewon fire of the Apple resellers this past fall makes me think of this: A Samsung a day keeps the Apple away. Wink

My macbook pro has a delete key. I prefer Samsung phones, but use my computer for Adobe, so prefer Apple for that.

The key says "delete" but it actually functions like a backspace key. Of course, you can use the "delete" functionality by holding the function key while you press the "delete" key.

True. I'm just used to holding function that I didn't even think of it.

Whichever is cheaper and more convenient so it varies.

There are some pretty disturbing "Apple/Mac Crusaders" out there however. Kind of like a cult or some sort of religion... Laughing

I think this was true at one point, but not so much anymore. At one time, Apple was the major underdog, yet produced beautiful products that worked very well. I think people felt they were smart or different or whatever for buying them. They weren't following all the microSheep. This led to an Us vs Them type of mentality that further led to a sense of smugness.

Fast forward to the 2010s and you have Android competing against the dominant Apple. History is repeating itself, but now it's the Android fans who feel they are smarter and not following the herd of iSheep.

I read a lot of tech news and I find that Android fans posting (out-of-place) criticism/vitriol in the comments section graetly outnumber the Apple fanboys posting their own idiotic thoughts. The ever popular "Apple sucks!" appears over and over, even with no apparent relation to the article.

So many people have iPhones that nobody (should) considers themselves special or smart for choosing such a popular phone.

====

I don't know. Anybody who is proud of their phone is an idiot unless they had something to do with the making of that phone.

The thing with Apple is that they products are way too hyped and really expensive for what you get. On the other hand, it has the most polished mobile OS in existence, based on BSD and at around 650 thousand apps it makes it above all else.

Key advantages of an iPhone or iPad are, no matter what one may think, in it's propriety closed iOS. You don't get updates discriminatory, and when I used iPhone 3GS, it worked better with new software then the old one.

Android's key problem is in its openness, and you have to wait for updates for months. Also, even with a quad-core processor on a Galaxy Note 2 I managed to freeze my phone a couple of times, which just does not happen on an iOS device.

Why did I change my iPhone 4 for a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 (soon Note 3) ?

One reason only.. The screen size and price !

If they make an iPhone with a 5,5'' screen for 500-600$ I will buy it ASAP. Until then, Samsung it is..

I find the "Apple Haters" much the same way.

"I hate Apple!"
"You ever use their stuff?"
"No! I hate them!!!"

Can't imagine myself getting all that passionate about a computer brand. I enjoy Apple, but don't think less of people who use PCs.

I used to be all-Apple, but now I have a split-up ecosystem (Windows 8 PC, iPad Air, Galaxy S4) and I kinda dig it. Dropbox integrates them all pretty seamlessly. I also love the iCloud for web so I can edit documents and presentations on my work computer, home computer, or iPad. Beats fumbling through a Korean version of PowerPoint 2007 for work presentations.

I like my S4 a lot, but I also happened to be in the market for a phone when the S4 was brand new and the iPhone 5 was 6 months old. If I had needed a phone in November 2013 instead of May, I probably would have bought a 5S.

As another poster mentioned, the lack of choice in Korea really bugs me. Anybody who wants to buy a flagship phone has only 3 choices - S4, G2, and 5S. Apple products are always released here a couple months later than elsewhere. Though I would probably still choose Samsung or Apple, it would be nice to see Sony, HTC, Nokia, Blackberry, and Motorola better represented here.

Both are largely overpriced and overhyped in my opinion. Phone-wise Chinese androids going to take over the market. Right now Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo, Lenovo etc. all have comparable brand recognition to that which companies such as Sammy and Lucky Goldstar had in the mid 90s, but these days they are offering comparable quality products to those offered by the big brand name boys for a fraction the price. Many of the tech forums and websites are indicating the newly released Chinese androids to have some of the best specs on the market. Korea's doing their usual economic protectionist crap by making people think their only real options are Samsux or Crapple.

I had a roommate that was venomously anti-Apple. It was all downhill from the first moment he saw me using my Apple laptop. Interestingly, he was venomously anti-Microsoft, too. He was a Google fanboy all the way. He sometimes talked about how Google will take over the world with ChromeOS.

To me, they're all just computers. I don't understand people.

Exactly! It is tech, use it as it fits your needs; don't crusade for it!

It was announced today that Lenovo is buying Motorola from Google (who purchased it in 2011).

I remember years ago people going on about how great Lenovo was, because they bought IBM etc, and how they would be huge, still hasn't happened in the civilized world. I highly doubt Chinese smart phones will ever be sought after outside of China, either.

As for the phones, it's half-and-half, both Samsung and Apple have their good and bad points, can't say I have a favorite really.

I don't remember people going on about how great Lenovo was, but I think that the PC business they bought from IBM is doing well.

Perhaps you were not perusing tech sites back then.
