I'm not a big drinker but it seems to me if they are all using the same active ingredient (ethanol) at a similar concentration 4-5% then the physiological effect should be the same. How do you account for the difference in, to use your words, "buzz"? |
Steelrails wrote that but I agree with him. There can be palpable differences between buzzes of different drinks/beers. I'm no chemist but there's a lot more going on than just the amount of ethanol. Amount of sugars, hops, and other ingredients would make a difference. If a drink contains a chemical that makes you sleepy vs. a drink that doesn't contain that chemical, obviously the buzz is going to feel different too. And, think about how some people can't handle certain drinks; different people process different things differently. |

actually a lot of it can be attributed to the additive chemicals in the beer along with the skunking I mentioned earlier. That has a pretty severe effect on the taste and alcoholic buzz. |

| I hope the beer will be as decent as Captain Q. For 5,200 won a bottle, I find this to be a nice rum for the price (I use it in cocktails, so no need for some fancy rum) |

Oof...those are pretty bad. I bought the orange one and had to pour in some whiskey to make it palatable. Well, as in still tastes like crap, but I can't let some good whiskey go to waste. |

Bad, but 10000% better than Korean beer.
Also, they are not 50% more expensive, if you buy them at E-mart they are actually cheaper than domestics. 1200 won a can |

| I had a sudden realization that's scary- What if its actually good? Look, yall know me as a defender of everything Korean, but I'm even more of a defender of degenerate drinking and the idea of a good Korean beer I think would just be too confusing. I think I'd just dumbly at it and its lame name. I think I'd actually order a Hite just to reset my worldview. |

Korean beer is very low quality light lager. There is nothing magical about the brew (other than the hangover) that would prevent a high quality light lager from taking its place.

No, it makes sense, see like, the Q was for 'Quan' like 'Kwon' in Korean. So like CaptainQ was really CaptainK, like Qloud would be Kloud, and like, yeah, I have no idea what the heck I'm typing. Time to lay off the CaptainQ.
EDIT- So I'm digging through my beers I have lying around the house, and after choosing to keep my bottles of Suntory and Mickey's around for sunnier and darker times, respectively, I went for a leftover stray can of Max.
Little did I realize until today, but on the can I am greeted with the slogan "The Climax of Rich Taste" followed up by "Soft Creamy Foam By Our Exclusive Process", now as appealing as having that go into one's mouth might sound to any straight man, I am forced to return back to the fridge and pull out a Mickey's and try to repress this memory and salvage what is left of this sordid evening. |

Before I got knocked up I used to buy all of the cans of 7 Brau from the CU next to my apartment. It's not the best, but not the worst, but I definitely preferred it over the usual K-beer.
As I was apparently the only person who bought them, but am cut off from booze for a bit, now they just sit in the cooler as the Korean college kids in my neighborhood opt for Cass/Hite/OB or the occasional Miller Genuine Draft.
It brings a tear to my eye. |
