Participation wise it is the most popular sport for male children.
However the professional soccer league does not get the corporate deals that the other football codes and cricket get. It is however improving and is starting to draw some decent size crowds to some games.
I personally do not like watching soccer (give me rugby league or aussie rules any day) but I do have respect for the game. Which other sport is able to draw teams from pretty much every country in the world. Even the women's leagues have expanded greatly in recent years.
As noted elsewhere however soccer does seem to attract the biggest a-holes into there administration. |
