Some argue that they are needed.....they use the Iditarod as an example......sure if you're going to take your dog off-roading in the ice and over rivers etc...put boots on the thing. If you're walking around the block or doing a lap at the park? No. |

Those dogs aren't made to wear them to protect against the cold, as the countercurrent circulation of the paws and natural padding is effective enough for that. The booties are more for trauma and to prevent energy loss through heat exchange.
A walk around the neighborhood certainly doesn't necessitate any footwear, except maybe to keep dirt from being tracked back in the house. |
