My grammar/spelling checker suggests you have the past participle of run incorrect and you have misspelled grammar.
Other than that, I completely agree with you. Oh, I also completely agree with anyone who states the OP's story is malarkey. |

Story seems strange to me. Even with no cell phone, I would have gone outside to look for my friend.
As for Korean capitalism, it does leave much to be desired sometimes. The customer is always right is an expression that doesn't seem to exist here. I rememer going to this wa bar once with a friend and the staff kept telling us we couldn't sit at the central table with the ice and drinks located in the middle of it. They kept telling us we had to sit in the booth. My friend spoke some passable Korean and we argued with them over it. The place wasn't even busy. We sat there at other Wa bars. These guys were just being stupid. We always deliberatly sat at this central table so we could mingle with folks. Traditional booths don't allow for that.
Anyways, we drank our one beer and left. We made sure to tell them this on the way out that we would spend our money somewhere's else. They were total morons without any common sense. They'd rather have some lame rule and lose our business. Fine by us, we left and went somewhere's else with our money. Given how competitive it is here, it does astound me how unfriendly, stubborn, and inflexible some Korean businesses can be. Their loss. |

Since it seems you weren't in there alone, you were probably with a group of friends, right? Didn't any of your friends notice this? Couldn't you borrow their battery? Or throw a message on facebook?
Or was it just the two of you? In which case he either A)Found you unattractive/drunk/clingy/the club boring and decided to ditch you B)Hooked up with some other girl real quick and left. And if you were alone, wouldn't you have left like 30 minutes into the search to go charge your phone?
Strange that he just happens to go missing while you're having a bathroom break and apparently stops waiting outside the club right before you leave the club to go charge your phone and get the messages as apparently those messages were your first contact.
Also, I've been to Octagon before and plenty of foreigners there of all shades.
Overall a really uhm, unusual, story. |

I have a similar story. After a friend's wedding, a group of around 20 went into this bar. It was on a Sunday afternoon. We were the only customers in a rather large bar. Right off the bat we ordered multiple pitchers and some cocktails. The ajumma waitress informed us we had to order food. Just coming from a wedding buffet, no one was the slightest bit hungry. The Koreans in our group tried to reason with her but she wouldn't budge. We all got up and left. The bar down the street got our business which totaled a few hundred thousand won. The original bar probably stayed empty that day. |

They could still simply substitute the item rather than the ingredients. He said both were on the menu, after all, and that the gorgonzola variant was the more expensive. Koreans are often inflexible when it comes to substitutions in my experience. |

Woops didnt catch the regular cheese part. Gotta be more careful when reading as part of my wakeup with coffee.
I had memories of all those times either as an employee or dining with others and people making seemingly reasonable but actually unfeasible requests and not getting it or expecting someone to spend 10 minutes to pick every pea out of the frozen vegetable medley. |
