Do you have at least 10K saved up (US dollar value)? If so, you can rent an apt here in Seoul. In which case, you might prefer to rent your house back home, rather than selling. The monthly income will likely pay for the monthly rent you'd have to pay here.

He's from England. Why would he have 10,000 US dollars saved up?

If you're only 31 then try applying for a Korean government scholarship to study in Korea.

There are a lot of manual labor jobs available. Koreans simply don't want to do them so you're not actually taking a job away from a Korean. It's usually a decent salary (although not as much as an English teacher). Construction work can actually pay really well but Koreans just don't want to do it because it's dirty, dangerous and demeaning (as all manual labor is considered). Ask your wife about 3-D jobs.

You might also get a job in a foreigner bar since you won't have to worry about a work visa.

In terms of educational requirements, I'm not sure what the minimum is for teaching at an after-class language school ("hagwon"). I have met a few Filipino housewives (married to Koreans) who work part-time teaching English at hagwons but I can't say for sure whether they were doing it completely on the up-and-up. In any case, I know for sure that some of them didn't have a university degree. I've also met foreigners who attended some obscure community college and got a BA in some odd subject - in other words they attended a diploma mill - quite often at an online institution. I suspect that they places weren't accredited. If you're just interested in doing a university degree so that the paper diploma itself can get you a job, consider going with a really cheap online diploma mill school. In fact, the tuition at the unaccredited University of Photoshop is very affordable.
