Hey RR, how long have you lived and worked in Korea? Fair's Fair. I told you, so why not tell me?

RR has been unable to cope with his Korea situation for quite some time.

I\'ve been around over a year, and have grown to feel sorry for him/her. We should not attack him/her. We should try to help.

Some guys on here were poking fun at him several months back and copying links to the many posts about salary he made so often. They came up with like 8 posts in a month that obsessed over teacher-pay comparisons.

Some may think RR a treat to have as an employee at the University he works at. Hopefully, he/he knows that acting like this at work will stifle chances for renewal due to innability to \"take it like a man\" (or a woman?).

Where normal people would learn to deal with the situation or get out, RR is trapped here. There is no going back home, because RR most likely failed there too, yet realizes that Korea is an easier situation. If RR truly believed the posts he/she makes, then Korea would have been a distant memory quite some time ago.

My hope is that whomever RR is, he/she will learn to appreciate the good qualities of his/her personality, and gain some true self-appreciation, rather than reactionary \"inferiority-based\" feelings of being elite. When that happens, RR will stop posting such things.

We need to treat him kindly, realize he has a mental condition that requires our love, caring, and help.

Sadly, many people in Korea have mental problems like this poster. Korea seems to draw such people.

This is the \"real reality\" of living here.

May I remind everyone that you are free not to click on threads started by any poster here? If you dislike someone, rather then calling them names or implying that they have a "mental condition", feel free not to read that persons threads. Its rather easy, I do it all the time.

They make more than that. And being in Iraq and the extra pay and bonuses they get, they do make more than us.
Im dating a lowely E5 right now, and we make the same amount.

I think what RR posted was the bare minimum.

osangrl,

I could not find anything right away on the extra pay and bonuses. However, you may be right.

Soldiers should receive bonuses for serving in remote locations, especially in hostile environments.

Do foreigners (that is, all foreigners) receive additional pay and bonuses?

of course we do... but no where close to what they do.
I have dated many a GI, and most of them make more than the average ESL'r. They get sofa pay, extra duty pay, vacation, sign on, re-sign on ... soo many bonuses. We get severance, and its often something we have to fight for from cheap corrupt bosses.
They do, for the most part, make more than us. Even just being in Korea, they get almost 300 dollars extra a month.... multiply that by 12 months, and that surpasses our stupid severance.
Its silly to even compare the two.

No one mentioned that we make a lot more than our Korean counterparts. Given we speak better, but they usually work longer hours (in my experience) and it is more difficult for them.

I can not compare Korea to Iraq. I don't fear for my life on a daily basis.

I almost got an eraser in the eye the other day. Does that qualify as a combat zone?

Actually I'd doubt that. What about housing and hours worked? How many GI's have a private apartment? That alone is worth something. And most GI's work longer hours than we do. As for salary some of us can work two jobs. At 4 million a month that's more than most GI's. Nor do some of us have to worry about being shot at. All in all, we are not doing too badly.

We aren't doing badly. That's not what im saying. I said it was silly to compare. I think they deserve to make more than us (and most do!!!) because of the hours they work, etc.
My current bf , like i said, is only an E-5, lived in sicily for two years, and now is in Korea, both places he had his own apartment etc.

Im not going to post more on this subject. You want to feel better about yourselves for (thinking you) making more money than soldiers, go ahead. But take a look at what we do, compare it to serving your country, and then think before you brag about it.

I think we should pay a bonus to those who serve those who serve our country.

At the very least, you should get some sort of medal you could pin on your thon^H^H^Hblouse.

I like RR's posts. He does research others can't be bothered to do, and provides a lot of thought provoking information.

If only he didn't post the same information over and over and over again...as several people on these boards have pointed out. His whole scenario seems to be claiming that teachers are lower paid than just about any other group. Apparently the fact that he has been proven wrong several times, and the rest of the time he is comparing apples to oranges doesn't deter him.
