Sorry to be a pedant, but theres a massive difference.
1/ Easter eggs rock!
2/ Apart from christmas, I never get to justify gorging myself on chocolate and sweets.
3/ The easter bunny is a real person.

| It's a marketing miracle, whichever member of Lotte's team dreamed it up is probably sitting pretty right now. In a similar way, the "special hospitals" (can't remember the name of them) that women go to immediately after having a baby and fork out 2-3 million won to spend a couple of weeks in is also a marketing miracle. I wish I could come up with a cash cow like that. |

I spent the two weeks as a guest with my wife at one of those places, and I have to say they DO provide a good service for the money they charge, but alas that is for a different discussion.  |

Like whoever decided that people should eat popcorn at the cinema. However do enough people buy popcorn when they're not at the movies or pepporo when it isn't peppero day? They might make more money if they convinced people they were everyday products. |

Many of those days still have special meanings for many. At the very least a time for family.
Valentine's Day commemorates St. Valentine, a Christian martyr. Easter candy comes from the tradition of Easter feasts after doing without during Lent. St. Patrick's Day honors the saint who brought Christianity to Ireland.
Cinco de Mayo originated in California and is celebrated mostly in the U.S. to celebrate Mexican culture and heritage.
Rather than being cynical and bashing them, better to point out their origins and how to celebrate them in a way that honors the values they echo.
But you'd probably say, "Naaah."
