My understanding is America has changed its sexual conduct laws a while back that an American citizen who has sex with any one under 18 in ANY foreign country is still breaking American laws even if the local laws says its legal. The American laws of consent follow you everywhere. So, even if its 16 in Korea, you are still liable.

The guy Quincy Black had sex with a person over 18 and it was consensual sex. They got him on distributing porn not for underage sex.

They convicted him for the porn videos but what they got him extradited for was allegedly having sex with a minor.

Just to clarify, he was extradited from Armenia, not America.

I don't get it. If the age of consent in Korea is only 13, why was Quincy Black convicted of a crime?

The age of consent in Korea is 13, so any conviction requires proof that the minor was forced into sex.

Statutory rape supersedes age of consent.

Also in the West (US/Canada anyway) it is still statutory rape if the parents want to press charges and that will get your ass on a sexual predator list for the rest of your life. Good luck getting a job after that.

Korea protects these jokers.

Huge difference.

Canada has no such thing as statutory rape. That's an american crime. in Canada the age of consent is 16, up from 14.

Age of consent does not equal non-statutory rape.

In many us states 13/14 is the aoc. But that didn't protect my favorite coach.

Completely different. A coach is in a position of authority. Quincy was a teacher, but not this kids teacher. He met her on an adult dating app. She told him she was 18, not that it would have mattered, it was legal anyway.

In many states the blanket age of consent is 16-18, many states have ages of consent under that that have a near age rule, the partners must be within 2-5 years of each other. 14-16 is okay, but 14-24 is not.

Perhaps I wasnt clear on it, so that was my fault. I meant between an American and a citizen of another country in that country. In South Korea, for an American adult to have sex with someone that person must be 18 (or the equivalent of 18 ). Im trying to find the page where I read that, so when I do, il be sure to edit my posting.

Sex tourism laws. Mostly meant to handle people who get caught overseas diddling young children. Not necessarily intended for this kind of situation, but it could be used.

Just stop. The stupid is getting out of control in this thread.

Quote:
statutory rape is sexual activity in which at least one person is below the age required to legally consent to the behavior.

If they are above the age of consent, no statutory rape can happen. Stop getting your knowledge of the law from terrible American TV shows.

Statutory rape only occurs when a person is too young to consent, even if they consent. It differs from real rape in that real rape generally involves force, coercion, drugs, or something like that. Stat rape occurs when the minor consents but was legally unable to consent because they were below the age of consent.
