Our neighbor called someone to fix his door once. Great! I thought... but it slams even harder now. I guess it wasn't making enough noise for him

I can actually imagine, and BELIEVE, that a couple of ajosshi's would be sqautting around a door, stratching their heads over this.

Yup. The two of them were there for well over an hour, changing/adjusting the hinges, slamming the door repeatedly, etc. I seriously believed they were trying to fix it so it wouldn't slam, but it was the opposite. And this was after signs were put up about not slamming the doors.

Had a problem only once here with noise above me.

After complaining a few times and visiting their house I was fed up.

Duct taped a speaker to the ceiling, left a deep bass beat on all weekend and headed to the country for some R&R. No more problems when I came home.

I call shenanigans. There's no way a thumping speaker wouldn't shake itself loose in a matter of moments, especially with the terrible quality duct tape they sell around here.

It's true Very Happy

Speaker only weighs like half a pound or so. It's a set of those portable bluetooth ones and they are surprisingly loud.

Kinda like this one:

But the bluetooth variety.

Maybe a month ago I woke up around 2am to what I thought were screams for help. I decided to quietly go to my door and open it a tiny bit to make sure nobody was in trouble.

As I cracked the door open I realized what the sound really was....a couple having the loudest sex I've ever heard in my life!!! I mostly heard a womans voice damn near screaming at the top of her lungs, a guy groaning, the bed must have gotten airborne becuase I kept hearing thumping. It was bad.

I laid back down, and by this time my wife was awake and pissed off. I suggested we let it go as they should be done shortly (according to my personal experience in the love dept. they couldn't posibly last more than 7-8 minutes) . Well I was wrong, and after 45 minutes I was getting mad. I decided to resolve the situation in a peaceful non aggressive manner, I picked up a baseball I had and whipped it as hard as i could at the door. It made the loudest boom I've ever heard! I quickly closed my door and listened....they stopped having sex. I didnt hear them open the door either.

Problem solved.

Sometimes it works to do that, sometimes it doesn't.

There used to be a guy in my building who practised singing at the top of his voice every day. one day I started singing back at the top of my voice, mimicking his every chord. He abruptly stopped and has never been heard of again.

I've "encountered" that type here and although it was kinda cool at first, it was also a bit ridiculous after awhile. We only stayed at motels so it didn't bug the neighbors.

Had neighbors like that too with the shrill screaming drama-queen girl, luckily the guy was a minute man, but they'd go repeatedly, and the dog would usually start barking too!

Koreans are loud.
No doubt. Most of the time it's just people talking over each other and not listening. I think if Koreans took the time to quietly listen, it would help a lot. But there's so much effort made to grunt and moan so they appear to listen, that it's just loud. Supermarkets have people yelling at you from close distances. Subway has people hocking shit left and right.
But I'm from America so Koreans are still quieter than your average American. So its an upgrade for me. But Japanese or Brits must be like stfu

Really doubt that. Would love to see a head to head on a decibel meter. Koreans would be well up there against anyone. Koreans don't do the random smalltalk thing much, but once they do get talking with friends, get the earplugs.

Just going to the grocery store here, you get your ears shouted out with the non-stop sales info. Is there a correlation with loudness to profits here? I'm pretty sure most Americans would leave those loud annoying stores immediately.
