Yeah, second after Jaurim. A far second, though well above K-pop. If K-pop is 10 then Roller Coaster is that squared, and Jaurim is that cubed, if that explains it. So well above K-pop, of course, since it's real music. I think they broke up in 2002 when their bassist went to the Netherlands to study though I may not remember that correctly.

Yeah, 1990s Kpop was maybe heavier and more angsty, and usually just one or two people. Even if somebody else was writing the songs it still meant the person performing it would have a lot of influence in the final product, like Lee Jeonghyeon and the way she would perform on stage.
It's not really possible to give a song any creative direction when you're one of twelve or so singers and don't sing more than two lines throughout an entire song. |
