Why are they not building more nuclear plants? Even with Fukushima, it did survive the earthquake. Their only mistake was not building a seawall hgih enough to keep out the flood. Otherwise it would have perfectly safe. As for Chernoble, the Soviet Union was corrupt and safety procedures were ignored. Modern building standards, safety standards followed make it much safer and much less polluting than other forms of energy. (I do believe many environmentalists have come around on the question of nuclear energy.) |
Now, the president wants to build more coal burning power plants...Go figure that one. They keep saying that the pollution comes from China, but most of it is home grown right here in Korea. |

| A lot of the air pollution was much worse back in 1997. The last few years have also been pretty bad due to the lack of rainfall and other things. I'm surprised that there isn't more geo-thermal power plants down south. |

| I think we should certainly be concerned about this. We should also be aware that a certain amount of the pollution is a free gift to Seoul, that comes courtesy of the People's Republic of China. I have lived in China too, and I can tell you that the Chinese dust levels are lethal. |

| I can personally say that because of the poor air quality in Korea I have issues with my nose clogging up and my throat being severely irritated. I can accept it and do my best to continue on with my day but my kid also has this problem and I hate the fact that he has to deal with it. There's really not much you can do but wear a mask and stay indoors when its bad or move. I plan to move. |

| I'm not sure why, but lately my breathing has been fantastic. I don't have the issues with that like I have in years previous. Nothing has changed really, other than the fact I moved back home. But that's it. Maybe I'm just imagining it. |

You're not.
I traveled out of Korea for more than 10 days (~6 months) for the first time in 4 years this past Spring/Summer. The change in my breathing was definitely noticeable.
Plugging this website because I currently use one of their masks and they are worth it!
