trust me.. it is not worth a pinch of poo |
Wow... your an igit. Soulseek contains music that is not really easy to find. Every musician I know from back in canada uses it to track down hard to get material. |
it seems you are the igit.. and all of your igit musician friends are igits too soulseek is for the dogs.. try something else and don't follow sheep around and tell us that sheep know best.

wylde... give us a bit more credit... that 285 is what is listed on the first search screen. Click the button and you get the next lot. You can, if you want church through all 10000 or whatever. |
wimx doesn't play those games, it gives you everything at once.. but still, i was not able to get anything like you mention on overnet... just a couple of hundred, thats all.
in one of those links i did a comparison on a bunch of p2p progs.. overnet came in about 3rd next to kazaa. i thing about overnet that did impress me though was that it had several copies of hanguel 97 and 2002.. no other p2p had hangeul. (hanguel, hangeul.. whatever )

WinMX is good but slow. If I want a song in under a minute I use KazaaLite. It never fails. Sometimes I want a specific song for a specific purpose when I'm using music with video for example. Using WinMX is slower. Plain and simple. However, if I want movies or software, WinMX has more results that are bonafide. Kazaa's network is cram full of junk and fake files. WinMX less so. |
kazaa is good for 1 off tunes that you need on the spot, i agree there, but there are more on winmx.. the good thing about kazaa is that it is fast, but, that kinda screws up when you are downloading a bunch of stuff.. if you are only downloading a few tunes at a time, kazaa would be fine.. however, once you start to run a few downloads, kazaa gobbles up your bandwidth and you have no control over that...
the reason i promote winmx so heavily is that i am in no hurry, i have patience when it comes to downloads and whatever i try to download, it will come and when it does, my bandwidth is not affected..
i never just download a couple of tunes, it is always queued up with full albums, software and a bunch of movies too..

Why use one when you can have the benefits of both? |
agreed... in one of those links i mentioned that it is best to use several p2p progs at the same time to find what you need...

here we have somebody with no experience at all telling us what to do..
if, for example, you did try winmx and used all of its options, you would see that direct connect is a waste of time.. there are far more hubs/rooms on winmx than there are on direct connect + the main search area as well.. there are thousands of winmx peer groups not to mention the hundreds of different chat rooms that focus on specified areas ie. ebooks, old movies, sitcoms, porn, etc.
i only used direct connect for about 5 minutes before seeing that it was just a copy of a very small portion of winmx.
i love these threads... it shows who actually has studied p2p and who just spouts off about where the sheep has lead them.
one day soon, i'll write a detailed explanation of how to configure winmx to connect with peer networks and more to show all you wannabes how to use it properly.
bit torrent -
again... youceff.com is far better than suprnova.org.. it is faster and it has more files.. but use both anyway..
that is 'good morning' from me... i have probably upset a few of you guys today, but, you should be wiser for it i hope |

sure it says 10023 but you only have the option of downloading 285 of them.. |
Before trash-talking others about not knowing what they are talking about, it's best to make sure you're on the up-and-up.
In this case, it's not that one can download 285 videos from a list of 10023 as you've suggested, but rather there are 10023 files available for download which have been identified as coming from a list of 285 distinct videos.
In short, the videos average 40 sources available for each. |

good morning gord..
not quite awake yet are we?
i forget the exact comparrison we did, but, on 'friends', in winmx, it was like 1200 different files with mutiple sources on many, many files..
winmx doesn't count the actual files, it counts different files..
your 285 is laughable |

Opinion poll?! Do what you do?! Type what in? Lead me?!
Well, aren't you full of phantoms ....this isn't an opinion poll, I don't know what you do, nor what you want me to type in, I just can't find the want to follow you anywhere at this point (especially to any bathrooms!), and I never once asked for advice in this thread.
Who are you again?

Gord, wylde...haven't you dudes gone around enough on this topic? Man....to each their own all ready. Do you really think you are going to change each other's minds?
It seem that different people have different results with different programs....perhaps they can't configure the software correctly or have a poor connection...whatever the reason, people have their preferences.
'Friends" was an awful show...I'm glad if Overnet has less sources for that trash...the users have some taste.... |

Ah to be as knowledgeable as you, I wish I had enough time to study P2P sharing to gain your level of knowledge about the subject but frankly I'm too busy watching some of the 100gig of videos (with a total of 0 fakes) that I have downloaded in the past 3 months........... |

I used to tease Wylde for shilling for WinMX -- then I got an attack of conscience and stopped (wylde's a great guy in RL).
I still don't use WinMX, though. |

it's all fun...
i have been using p2p progs for about 6 years.. i have tried nearly all, if not all..
when configued correctly, winmx is by far the best with the most results in my opinion..
sure kazaa might have some stuff winmx doesn't and vise versa but if i had to choose only 1, it would certainly be winmx.
first search is always on winmx, if it is not there i try kazaa and my last resort is overnet.. if it is not on those 3, i kinda give up.. never happened.. there isn't any music that i've looked for that couldn't be found on those 3.. from my experience, if it isn't on those 3, nothing else will have it either
movies are a little harder
tv series are harder still, best sticking to bit torrent for those and using p2p for single episodes that bit torrent does have...

100gig? ha.. i took 100gb off winmx in about 3 weeks when i formatted the wrong drive 2 months ago..
it is easy to test a d/l to see if it is the real thing.. only a rank amature would download a full movie to find out if it is a dud..
btw.. i have 400gb of movies and tv shows that i watch regularly

The record shows that you had originally claimed about 3090 files of which the individual number of downloadable files were not cited. Though I find it highly suspect that there were thousands of Friends episodes available for download since only about 250 episodes were ever made. There would have to be a lot of clips and stuff in other languages, neither of which would be useful.

Would you like me to post up a screen pic showing how WinMX makes a number at the bottom of the screen clearly showing the total number of files found while the menu selection for download is reduced to individual files where the same file is then marked into a group?
So it's quite possible for WinMX to say "650 results" and then the list being two files, one by itself from User Bob and the other saying 649 users.
Though I honestly don't care what you use. Just don't make things up to support your claims to what you use. |

my winmx has been down for about a month due to my firewall, i have just been stealing things off bit torrent so i am unable to actively compare these days and you have me at a disadvantage. i may have been wrong when i said it counts different files but i cannot tell now anyway..
i remember though that the scroll bar 'thing' was about a millimeter thick and there were pages upon pages of files and considering that the search resluts page holds about 50 results it would suggest there were far more files than just 285.
my search results are always collapsed that is the default setting.. i see every file not user.
and yes, there are lots of clips, blooper, specials which are very useful and loads in other languages that are not useful..
i suspect every p2p prog is guilty of that so overnets 285 is actually looking worse and worse.

While "My Friend's Hot Mom" may be hot and count towards the total at the time, I had limited my search to just videos so things like MP3s and other non-video format were struck but you have included them in that little blurb.
Though these days it's pretty much Bittorrent for new stuff, and then everything else is pretty much the same for older stuff. It just doesn't really matter as an overall. |

i just stuffed around with edonkey2000 pro... it needs money but damn it looks good..
i couldn't do much on it however, on a search for 'crying nut' it gave me about 30 results... edonkey basic (free) returned nothing.
it has different servers that you can log on to and there is a korean server.. thats where i got the results..
if ya wanna spend some cash, it might be a good investment.. |

I'd go with Emule if I could. I used it for ages. The GUI is very nice but with a Cable modem from Thrunet now it won't connect with a High ID except on the Korea Only server which still makes for really slow downloads. I've decided there's nothing I can do about this. Am I wrong? |
