I do not think Korea is rewarding good singers as much as they are rewarding fine limbed comely lasses.

Look at classy 에일리 sing in Spanish with a huge rich sultry voice here:

Then you see CL of 2ne1 sing in an average voice and rap in a vapid concert looking like a high class call girl with a rave style blond haired caucasian guy record spinner to give her street cred:

CL would not even get past the first few rounds in Americas got talent. Her singing is above average but really nothing to rate being recorded. I think the only reason she got fame is because she is tall, beautiful, and no doubt hard working.

Don't get me wrong- I would still hang out with CL and let her buy me pizzas and Korean BBQ. But, she has an inferior singing skill set when you slap her against Aillee.

CL is not considered beautiful in Korea. Also, she's a 'rapper', not a singer. Her primary appeal is to young girls who like the strength and confidence she projects, hence her title of 'Charismatic Leader'.

How do dudes spend this much time rubbing shoulders and other parts with Korea and Koreans and still not have any sense of Korean standards of beauty?

please enlighten us

High nose, small face, shaved jaw, double eyelid surgery, 's line', 'v line' and 'eye smile'. I've picked up that much in the last 10 years. Sorry Steelrails if this is not true and I've completely misunderstood how Koreans really perceive the world Wink

You're right, hence why all the Miss Korea contestants look like CL and not say, the 9 pale look alikes from SNSD.
