No, that is what pussies do.

Talk to the parents.

While I agree they should talk to the parents, I feel like doing that will result in green tea, maybe a roll cake, an agreement, and then ultimately, no change.

Perhaps...and you very well may be right. BUT, taking that initial step would be something to document, should it escalate further. The OP can say that an effort WAS made to talk with the parents of the urchins in question...if it fails, THEN, the next step is appropriate.

Then again, with the defamation laws in Korea, posting things on youtube to publicly shame someone may not be wise.

One of the best ways to ward off a bully is fight back. Back in high school, anytime some kid called my friend a 'chink', my friend just attacked the guy, fists flying and all. And whoever was attacked would never utter that word to my friend again. Should have seen him when playing hockey, he hated called any racist term.

agree with that. But you also need to be wary of blood money

If you all hadve read what I posted in my 1st post, you would've seen that the personal approach, albeit a bit confrontational, was encouraged. The 2nd post, with a caveat, was recommended regarding filming. Get your phone out, BUT stand strong! No hard-core evidence? No conviction is what I heard these days...

Non-pussies have thick skin and aren't bothered by bullies, but if a person is going to do something, like anything in life, talk is going to be less effective than action.

Film it ALL on ur "smart"phone and/or make sure the cctv in the complex is running. These days, it actually seems like Korean courts are looking for proof of some sort...strangely. You need witnesses(most still lie, or refuse to say anything - same as home, maybe?), video, or audio recording. Don't be scared to pull your phone out and start recording. It CAN make a difference. Make sure you do it in a safe way - ie. don't put yourself in an unsafe position. Usually, Koreans are pretty smart and supportive, but, they sure can attack together if they think it's needed.

Or before you go through all of that...talk to the parents.

Why before or after ... and not while or during ... ?

When multiple options are available best to pursue all at once.

Move back to the States?

The US is certainly no paradise, but I wouldn't raise a mixed kid here in Korea. I'm a father and my kid is in uni in the US, so I don't have to deal with that nonsense and neither does she, thankfully.

Why did you decide Korea would be a good place to raise your children?

Somebody has got to face the hard stuff. My generation did in Canada when I was in school. There was like 4 Asians in my school of 500. That blew, they also bused in about 40 native Indians from the reserve. Those guys stuck together, since some white farm boys would often pick fights with the natives. I guess now it's muslim kids that are getting the yucky end of the stick.

I grew up like that in Calgary. At least 5 times of transfering to schools. I grew up in one of the most racist parts of Canada but it was worth it. At least I speak better German than your average Albertan. Very Happy

Odds are its hate, but you also don't want to be the mother who freaks out about your son and their friends taking the piss out of each other the way boys do. That WOULD really harm your kids friendship.

All I'm saying is make sure. We've all had that time our mom misinterpreted what was going on and started scolding our friends for something we were all in on.

OP, do you live in a ghetto area? It seems strange your neighbors care about you.

Maybe move to a higher end apartment complex.
