Umm- what? Most women aren't so catty as to view every woman around as competition. As well, I've noticed that the guys here spend a lot of time trashtalking about other guys... food for thought, no?

Hey I'm not saying us guys don't do it either. Heck, 90% of these guys can't hold a candle to me.

But back to the topic at hand. I just have my doubts if Corporal was on the end of highly critical comments made to her face by people who didn't think she could understand their language, she wouldn't be as thick skinned. Who would?

a true shakespearean tragedy is defined by the death of the main protagonist, which is caused by his/her fatal flaw. for example, in macbeth, it is his greed which lead to his demise. in king lear it is his hubris that kills him.

romeo and juliet is definately a tragedyas the two main protagonists die. one could say that it is their love which is their "fatal flaw", though i'd be more inclined to argue for their naivete which kills.

This fatal flaw is called hamartia but is often incorrectly interpreted by critics. It can mean either tragic flaw or tragic error, and it is more properly, in the case of Elizabethan drama, considered the tragic error. Therefore, Lear does not have the tragic flaw of hubris but rather commits the tragic error of excluding Cordelia and giving everything to Goneril and Regan.

With Macbeth the hamartia is usually considered to be his decision to kill the king.

Romeo and Juliet, oddly enough, except for the deaths of Mercutio and Tybald, is writtten in a comedic style. Because of the mixing of genres is difficult to see the hamartia in Romeo and Juliet and it could considered as Romeo's passionate nature (with hamartia as fatal flaw) or Romeo's killing of Tybald (with hamartia as fatal error) or the Montague and Capulet family heads inability to reconcile or a million a other things.

Nope...our brains and personality in comparison to the K-gals more than make up for the little extra curves some of us might have.

Thanks for the concern though. Wink

p.s TMKATM, real men prefer curves. Don't they?

I have good ears, and Koreans around me are usually saying things like, "Wow, look, a foreigner. She's so pretty. I wonder if she knows how to make kimchi for her husband. Poor man, he's probably starving to death with only a foreign woman to cook for him."

Doesn't bother me at all. Laughing

Shocked WTF.... .LOCAL TALENT...Why thank you for reducing an entire gender into something akin to circus acrobats...(not that I have anything against circus acrobats)

COMPETE???? for what? What Stepford planet did you just rocket in from. Psst...I have some super secret knowledge for you...MOST OF WOMEN I KNOW DON'T COMPETE FOR THE DUBIOUS PLEASURE OF YOUR COMPANY OR ANY MAN'S FOR THAT MATTER OF FACT! Good lord people this is not 1963....I like men I like their company but despite what some of you men might believe I do not have some super secret game plan that is being thwarted by the svelte lovely away team (korean women)!

Again some bizzaro pathetic myth that men cling to to make themselves feel better. "The "talent" is out there competing for me!!!! Wooo hooo! Rolling Eyes

Husbands and mates don't need Korean women to stray. If all it takes is a pretty women to make your mate stray ladies they weren't worth having cuz like it or not they were going to stray back home.....Korean or Western men can be pigs....so let's not "blame" the local "talent" because some men can't keep their johnson in their pants.

"Dumpy" Sometimes I feel this way...sometimes I don't depends on the moon actually....nudge nudge wink wink. But I felt this way at home. Do I feel inferior...nope...I have no trouble attracting men ...I am not some super hottie either. Just don't worry about competing for them either! Hmmm? Must be one of them there crazy, army boot wearing, feminazis!

And what I find most amazing is that a post about language turns into "man, don't you western women feel dumpy..ie inferior." Amazing how quick that happens!

No, not unless you like Mac Donalds. Single women are fundamentally competitive over men.

Must be.

You know what's weird? I've never met an attractive feminist! Very Happy

Come on guys.....stick to the topic, there are million threads like this already.

Anyhow,
In jeju I was walking along and there a lot of couples there on honeymoon wearing those awful couple clothes.

So this one couple were wearing this shocking pink and purple stripe thing so I turn to my girlfriend and said pretty loudly they should be locked up for such bad fashion sense, how could you were something so bad.

So the husband turns to me and says,"this will be you one day sunny, enjoy the freedom while it lasts because once you marry and you have to wear what the wife wants it is fashion hell Very Happy " in perfect English.

I pissed myself laughing all the while he is telling his wife in Korean that I was commenting how nice they looked together.

What is this supposed to mean? What are you trying to say about your brain and personality when compared to a Korean woman?

Western women have a "little extra curves"? Dont you mean "rolls" rather then "curves"?

My wife was on an elevator one time and these two Korean women started talking in English and discussing their sexual encounters. They just assumed my wife could not speak English. Shocked

A long time ago, I was walking up some subway steps with a friend of mine and there was a girl with a nice bottom. I asked him to slow down as I was enjoying the view.

At the top of the stairs, the woman turns around to us (mainly me) and asks us where we work at. It happens that she was an English teacher that acutally could speak English.
