What is unfair about the current SOFA?
If US SOFA status personnel commit a crime off-base, while off-duty, they are tried in a Korean court.
It's a standard agreement that was revised ten years ago. |

Can't work out if you're being funny here. Anyway, I understand it all too well. They will modernise, sure as the sun rises, it just may take another 50 years or so. The Japanese, back in the late 1800's, were smart enough to send thier best and brightest out to England, France, and Germany, to see how they did things. They took this knowledge back home and changed thier government and military in light of new information, then went out and wasted the Russians, first time an asian country had done this to a Euro super power. That is thinking. Not getting so up your own fundamental about the inherent superiority of your own culture that you couldn't possibly have anything to learn from anyone. Things are so profoundly backwards here it's no wonder the Japs kicked thier ass. You reap what you sow, no sympathy. |
