I done got a concussion today according to the local doctor.
I was pissed as hell at some middle school students that kept disturbing my elementary class... so as I went to the classroom they were hiding in, they locked the door and tried to hold it shut. I am stronger than they are, so I tried to pull it open, but they held on just long enough that when they suddenly let go, it smacked me in the forhead hard enough to knock me down (that frickin' hurt). When I fell back, my head snapped against the floor and hello Mr. Concussion. I remember gettin' smacked in the face with the door, but I don't remember hitting the floor, I was out cold. One of my students told me what else happened.
By the way, I only missed one class while they were taking x-rays and I taught my last two classes of the day. I couldn't stand up too well though, so I sat during them... too hell with my director and her "teachers should never sit during class" policy. |
Typical. The directors want you performing even if you'd just been paralysed by a freight train. Last time I got a wisdom tooth removed I had to cause a fuss just to get the rest of the day off (my jaw was a bloody swollen mess and I could hardly talk). |

A girl posted here that was co-erced into working with a broken collarbone. The doctor told the director that she needed a week off. He said ok but didn't tell her. She found out when she went back to him without the director in excruciating pain. She ended up going home because the director wouldn't relent and either fired her or threatened to fire her.
Then there was that guy who was sick posting here for help.
Both of them had been here around a week or a month I think. First time in Korea. |

Wow....I can't believe directors would be that cruel. I once got a cold and when my director heard me coughing and sneezing she sent me home to bed. |

| My director took me to a specialist immediately when my doctor called and recommended it. I missed a class and a half with no consequences to my pay or working atmosphere. |

Don't expect that to continue for very long. There are good directors out there, but they're few and far between. Besides, you wouldn't stay home for a minor cold in you home country- would you? |

Yep. The kids definitely do not consider us to be real teachers. |

Who said it was minor?
Well, it may not continue, but at least let me enjoy it while it lasts. |

| I got glasses and a chair thrown at me by a kindy kid who the kids were literally scared of when he got angry. If something happened, I would hear a gasp from the students followed by a "Teacher, ****'s angry!" But the supervisor said it was my fault because I put him in the corner for not doing his in-class work. |
