Seeing as how it's quite unlikely that we'll get any Korean customers, I'm thinking of hosting some special event at my cafe in Hongdae. Maybe my on-base hookup can score me some goodies.

Alyallen: You'll have a better chance going TO Seoul than away from it early in the holiday period. Try http://english.barota.com/ to check on train availability. Be sure to check trains to Youngsan or Yeongdongpo instead of Seoul station.

The train would be the best way to get to Seoul when everyone's on the move to the family hearth. But if you get the day after everyone's settled at the hometown then the roads are clear and the bus isn't bumper to bumper in traffic.
The train is often 'standing room only'. If you pay 30,000 won then you have a 'membership' that allows you to make reservations by phone in advance, saving you the trip down to the station. At least I think that's how it goes. It doesn't give you any more power to get a seat when the train seats are booked. |

| Membership in "Barota" the Korean rail system card plan is 20,000, which is refundable when you return your card. You can make reservations (in English!) on line, and pick your tickets up at the station. Cards are available at most staions, but I'd go for Seoul or Youngsan, since there is a "foreigners only" counter at these places, and you'll find someone who can speak English. |

My plan it is to get a bigger avatar than Captain Kirk's. Then we'll see who's the boss around here!

No! Leave Igor alone! Well, okay, just as long as it's a bigger picture of Peter Lorre. Or Edward G. Robinson would be good too. |
