Mine as well. Soccer kids have a dormitory, where the stay and sleep anytime they don't have to play. Some of them I haven't seen this semester yet...others I see, but only as they sleep at their desks (soccer players are ALLOWED to do this.) I guess the school hopes their sleeping minds will observe some information through osmosis!
I really don't understand why parents would let their children join a team if this is the end result. What happens to 90% of the guys that don't make it to the pro leagues? Gas station jockeys with really good footwork? Starbucks employees with wicked aim? |

Well. If the wife and I ever go back to my hometown in Australia to settle down and have kids, I will definitely let my boy(s) join the rugby league team. It's much harder to win social acceptance otherwise. Even if you don't make it pro, you're still considered a kind of local hero, and it's very easy to build up a network of friends and associates to help you through life.
Isn't it like this with Ice Hockey in Canada? I thought the jock-free-ride thing was universal. |

Yes,
In Canada it is pretty much the same. Highschool atheletes get to miss tons of free time due to road trips and in university, the best players get averything paid for. Unfortunately for me I am a better rugby player than a hockey player. |
