I have encountered this numerous times --

Supervisor: "ohhh you look so tired, you sound so sick! What's wrong?"
ME: "Ohh I'b okay. I just habe a bit ob a cold. Tomorrow I'll be pine. {Sniff.}"
Supervisor: "Noo, you must go to hospital! You must get rest, and take a break!"
ME: "Yes, baybe dat's a good idea. Can I habe an hour from work to go to de doctor? {Cough, chough, sneeze}"
Supervisor:" What! Time off? No, you must work! We have no one to cover your classes!"

Hmm...so when you're working from 10:00 in the morning until 7:00 at night WHEN do they expect me to go to the doctor?? That's the part I don't get....they area always concerned for your health -- TO A POINT.

Instead, she made me drink some really foul hot ginseng tea with spices and lots and lots of floaties (the only identifiable one was pine nuts, but I think there were chestnuts and other stuff in there too). Foul foul stuff. I sipped a bit of it and threw it out the window. Three days later when I started to feel better, she said it was the tea, for sure. . . .
