Cedar, your plan sounds good but my experiences with Korean girls (before my wife and most definitely with my wife) is that experiences are all fine and good but a birthday isn't a birthday without a physical present. I tried, I failed, many times. Gotta buy the gift.

Like the romping around in bed part, though.

I did explain a token gift, and suggested Ewha girls as a model for what was hip and popular these days.

Make her some sweat treats. Even if you cant cook, shell appreciate the effort. I made my ex-girlfriend some sticky, race paste type treats for white day last year and even though they tasted terrible, she ate them all and was happy as a kite.
I sure do hope you mean "sweet" Wink

I don't think the girlfriend in question is Korean as Korean people don't get upset over their age on their birthday -- they do that at the end of the year...

some fine advice people-i'll certainly try and multiply those ooos!

someone said about a day spa package- have you been to any you'd recommend-i think she would like one we could both go to.

also someone mentioned private chalets you can rent all over the place-that sounds like a laugh-any more information on these?

thanks

there are private cabins in chuncheon (ask at tourist info), nice scenery, might be a little cold but- you could always rub a stick against something to keep warm (sorry).

A mate of mine once made a t-shirt for his gf featuring the worst picture he could find of himself (covered in mud after falling in a dyke in Amsterdam) and the words "My Man" underneath. Would be pretty easy to do in korea I would've thought.

The Chalets are a bit hard to find. What do you mean by 'a laugh'? They are very popular with Koreans at the moment, and a good value in my opinion. Koreans know them as 'pensions' rather than 'chalets' but they are one in the same.

If you can navigate through a Korean site try www.huepension.com. A Korean friend can help you find other Korean sites that advertise chalets for rent. They start at about 80 000 a night.

that t shirt idea sounds quality-although i'm sure there would be a break down in communication and they would write some random slogan advertising a kimchi maker or something-although that itself would b a unique t-shirt.

right enough prognosticating and procrastinated as joxer daly said...3 days to her birthday, i've nothing sorted so it's ime for action.thanks again for the advice...at this rate its going to be 15 half eaten boxes of pepero with a bow on them!

Ummm....a "dike" is a hill made to keep water back. Looks like a barrow. None in Amsterdam proper to my knowledge. Did your friend fall in a very dirty lesbian?

All these sound great to a western chick, and if anyone wants to throw them my way, my birthday is next week.

However, to most Koreans, the idea of it being the thought that counts is totally incomprehensible. What matters is "Will my friends be jealous?"

Ha! So true. Whatever you buy her, leave the price tag on.
