In my school in Australia we never played dodgeball.

Sounds like I'm missing out on some fun action.

Is it only North American high schools that play it as it doesn't seem to be a big thing in other ESL countries.

One question, who makes the official dodgeball????

I wonder what the ADAA, the American Dodgeball Association of America, would think of this.

Probabally because it sounded more exotic.

Hmm I played dodgeball all through grade school and high school in the US (I graduated Highschool in 2000) when did this whole no-dodgeball thing go into effect.

We played with those red rubber balls of varying sizes (the kind you use in kickball), teams were always picked by numbering (you know one two, one two), we also played if you catch the ball you can bring back one of your teammates or the kid whose ball you caught had to go out. I was never much of a thrower but I was damn good at catching, usually was one of the last kids out.
