I saw this guy selling some kind of small broom device that rolls over dirt and picks it all up. To demonstrate, he dumped all this dirt on the subway floor including some large objects like pens and a small hairbrush and one pass, woosh, the subway floor was clean (errrr cleaner). My skepticism for hucksters made me think there was some kind of trick.

I remember I was at the Toronto CNE and this guy had a booth demonstrating this miracle cleaner that would get ugly caked on grease off a plate or stove with one wipe. To demonstrate he had all these plates with caked on grease and an oven with caked on grease. He dipped a sponge in some of the miracle solution and woosh. Clean as a whistle. People were amazed. My GF was amazed. I said to her "it's a trick. It's not grease. It's water soluble paint that looks like grease. Spit will remove it too." To demonstrate I put my finger in my mouth and then swiped one of the plates and sure enough the "grease" came off.

It's actually an old trick more legit soap makers would use in their TV commercials, showing you the stain cleaning power. Everything in the commercial leads you to believe it's a grease stain but they don't say it. It's just some water soluble stain. Perfectly legal if dishonest.

What I find most irritating is the guys who sell CDs of bad '70s AM radio tunes. And they always seem to set up their little BFR right behind me. (Probably because I tend to stand towards the middle of a subway car as this is the custom in Toronto, since no one walks between cars and common sense dictates you should move towards the middle of the car so other people can get on and no one blocks the doors...) I've gotten off a subway and waited for the next train just to get away from one of these guys. Grrr.

I'd like to see alot more street musicians at busy subway stops. It would improve the ambience. There are several hundred musicians licensed to perform on Boston's MBTA. Some national acts got their start playing the subway.

BTW, I mistook this thread for someone slagging Subway Sandwich.

You know, back home I would be slagging Subway in favor of Jersey Mike's or DiBella's. But, oh, to have a Subway sandwich nearby would be SOOOO nice. The closest we have are the toas-uh-tuh places that sell ham and egg toasted sandwiches with kiwi sauce Confused

And even those places are new on the scene.

There's a Subway Sandwiches at Nakseongdae subway station, one stop west of Sadang on the green line. Dunno which exit.

They need some Mexican subway entertainers here.
I saw that glass guy many times on the Barranca del Muerto line, dodging the Metro inspectors.

And those guys selling DurOcell batteries, four-pack for 10 pesos.
