Yes, I certainly agree with ChronicPride. And places like Changwon or Jinhae will certainly be excellent places to start.
I really hate people who focus on the money. There are so many other factors to help you enjoy your stay. Talking to a teacher already at a school will help a lot....I think it is essential. |

OP,
I started here in a big urban area (Goyang) which is a residential overflow from the capital and thus pretty much like living in Seoul. As it was in an affluent area, there were lots of teachers and I got to know the local expat crowd. I think it was better in a sense because although I was living in a new country where I didnt know much, I still had an outlet in the city and could speak english with tons of people. Anyhow, in my second year I have moved to the country and am loving it. I am forced to learn some more Korean (which is a good thing) and have less contact with other whiteys. This is just my opinion, but I am glad I did it this way, rather than the other way around. Seoul is a soft entry for foreigners entering Korea, it might be good to go through the decompression chamber than to jump straight in.
Cheers

| I live in a small town that's close to Seoul. I think it gives the best of both worlds. |
