long story... another thread. i don't know how to make it a link, but the title is:
big big problem. help!

i think it's now on page three of the job-related discussion forum.

but since i'm sitting in an internet cafe anyway with nothing better to do than argue about how well-known the mississippi river is, i'll give you a quick rundown.
i had always thought that americans got 90 days upon landing in korea. shame on me for not having looked at the actual stamp in my passport, but in the past, i overstayed my welcome while looking for work. i've since gotten two e2 visas with no problems at all, and until now i was even unaware that i had overstayed my visa, because no one at immigration said anything at my coming or going. so when i got to korea this time, i was planning to make the visa run to japan, all of the paperwork had been taken care of, and then just before i was about to go, immigration called my hopefully soon-to-be boss and said that he just checked up on me, i had overstayed my visa in the past, and he was therefore revoking the acceptance of my visa application.
my boss called me and asked me about it. i was as surprised as he was. we figured out what had happened, he called immigration back, explained my mistake and that i was very sorry and that he really needs me. the immigration official said okay, but you have to re-apply, and everything will go smoothly. but by that time, my 30 days was once again coming to an end. so i had to go to japan, and wait for the paperwork to be processed in my absence. so i'm waiting.

If money is an issue, then Busan is a lot cheaper than Fukuoka. Since it looks like you will be waiting at least another weeks, why don't you hop a ferry and come back in on another tourist visa for a few days? Just a suggestion...

that's not a bad idea at all, and i even considered it. i didn't realise just how long i was going to be here though. and now that someone told me about sleeping in the internet cafes, i think (when i include the boat to busan and back) japan is going to be the cheaper option.

yep, I think we've all had our incredibly dumb moments. I've had 2 involving my passport and one of them was just last month (there is a thread about that one, but I don't think it is worth linking to). glad it all worked out in the end.

So you didn't get caught working illegally until it got stamped. Good for you.

Umm... what? Nope, that's not it.
