I wrote a buncha stories for some really beginner-level textbooks last month... It was actually kinda tough trying to mechanically fit the required grammar points of each unit into the allotted 15 sentences...

The end result was some pretty lame-ass stories. No double entendres or innuendo to keep you teachers amused, although I did rip off the plot of E.T. in one of them! Twisted Evil

At my hakwon I noticed way too many inuendos in the textbooks:

The Huge Carrot:
"the daughter pulled the son, the son pulled the mother, the mother pulled farmer john, and farmer john pulled the huge carrot. they pulled and pulled, but couldn't pull out the huge carrot."
in the end they manage to pull it out and "everybody eats the huge carrot"

Happy Farm series:
"farmer john feeds carrots to the mommy horse and the baby horse too."
the picture shows farmer john holding a carrot at err... waist level, while the baby horse nibbles on it.
"i'll pull your loads, says the baby horse. I'll pull your loads too, says the mommy horse."

A snake on the subway:
"the slippery snake slithers down the stairs to the subway"

Never Study Land:
Derek: I want to go on the swing this time.
Billy: OK. I'll push you.
Derek: I want to go faster! Push me harder!
Billy: I don't want to play anymore. I don't want to have fun anymore.
Derek: I paid for your ticket. You must play with me forever.

The funny thing is, I think it's one guy who wrote all these textbooks, and he's the founder/owner of this well known hakwon chain, who's name I will not mention.

I swear, I could probably write a thesis on this material.

is comedy gold.

Unfortunately, given the current climate, it's probably in everbody's best interests not to advertise the subliminal depravity that goes on in ESL text books.

Or not.

Oh well, I guess I could save the contents of "Sophie's Box" for later.
