Back when the term "web developer" was really first coined , there were jokes about some legendary job ad that wanted a web developer with 10 years experience. That was 1996 or so.

These days people like to track the cripplingly bad wages software companies want to pay web developers. (Demand is low, supply is huge, and most web developers in Seattle earn more as dog walkers these days...) It would make the OP's editing job look reasonable. You get ads looking for web developers with 5-10 years experience with php, perl, java, photoshop, etc and the starting wage is $23K a year, in New York City...
