What would be of more value would be to plot average pay on the same graph.

Inflation too takes its toll. If inflation is 8% and the price rises 6% your house has decreased in value by 2% in real terms.

The first graph that shows the dip during the Clinton era is misleading if you are considering average home prices alone. It is a home PRICE to EARNINGS ratio. Did prices fall, or did earnings go UP during that period? Me thinks the latter.

Looking at the second graph suggests prices haven't fallen leading us to conclude that SINCE Clinton earnings have fallen. I'll let everybody else speculate about the possible reasons for that.

Joy to all,
DG

God doesn't create any more land but man is creating more livable land albeit at the expense of the environment.

Donald trump offers excellent courses on real estate through his own university. www.trumpuniversity.com. He took out a patent in the name oftrump+university for a cool $300+, usually ivory tower afficionados would be up at arms at the thought of anyone using, "university". Saw the patent too, was a really forward thinking and smart move which also ensured, the degreeinfo.com hounds couldn't attack him.

Trump University offered it's first courses(complete with certificate of attendance that looks like an actual degree complete with coat of arms) at the beginning of this month for $US190(I got invited). Anyway, included are hundreds of dollars in real estate books etc, a really good deal for the money.

Real estate should be everyones' business as everyone will likely buy something someday.
