get an electric cord and strip the insulation from one end, wrap it around your doorknob and plug the other end in. Use rubber gloves when opening or closing the door. Anyone who sticks a key in or tries to open the door will be knocked on their ass. Simple yet effective. Be careful though with a metal door the whole thing can become electrified.
Get some firecrackers and tape them to a spot next to the door. Attach a book of matches so that when the door opens they hit a striker pad and in turn light the firecrackers. If that doesnt make you jump nothing will

| Fly paper or mouse trap paper on the floor or across the bottom of the door. Ok, it's tame, but atleast you'd know if he came in again. |

Duh...
what's wrong with going to the locksmith and buying a new door lock!?!?!?!?!?!?
Very simple! And you DON'T need to give the owner a key!! It is NOT law! Emergency? Needs to enter your apartment? Have them call you!
I always change the locks when I move into a new place and never once given a key to the owner or manager. I tell them instead to give me a key to your apartment!
The standard korean silver door knobs with the key access are common in korea and EASY to change! A blind person could swap out the lock!
Very simple...on the inside of your door...twist/turn the cover counter clock wise and it unscrews. Once that face plate is off the entire door knob slides out. Now remove the two screws holding the lock in place. Install the new door knob/lock and replace the two screws. If you don't have one of these types of locks..go to e-mart and buy another type or just call a locksmith. 50,000 Won and you're good to go.
Cheap piece of mind for 50,000.
And again...you DO NOT need to give the building/manager a key. It is NOT law. Even if it was law...I wouldn't! Your building owner/manager has already demonstrated that he is dishonest by entering your place when you were not home! |

A buddy of mine came home to find the landlord's daughter using his bathroom.

| Change your lock. You don't need to give your landlord a key. We changed ours when we rented some place and my husband said they didn't need the key, plus they shouldn't come without notifying us first anyway. |
