Confused

Hmm.. everyone has the old old standby places.

I'm beginning to think this board is more of an Itaewon crowd.

I was sick of the clubs of HongDae for quite some time myself..

But recently been exploring and found some great bars (with good mix of expats & koreans) AND western music (some of the request bars) with beer for as low as 1500won a 500cc glass.. or another one with one bottle for 2000 won.

Good times indeed. I'm still exploring the place.. tons of places down by the Hongik Station and all around the Park and everywhere else (away from that little club-oriented street).

In Sinchon we always end up at Zen I. It's getting old... does anyone here know of a dance club in Sinchon that doesn't suck, and isn't Zen?

I have yet to go out in Itaewon for a night... that will probably have to change, but I hate paying cab fare! Usually we stick within Sinchon, Hongdae at the furthest... I really didn't find Hongdae to be all that impressive. I think my expectations may have been too high, having read that Hongdae is an awesome spot for nightlife.

I've been pretty disappointed with nightlife in Seoul in general... I'm used to Halifax, where I know what I'm getting and I pay a relatively fair price for it. Everyone says the best bars are in Gangnam, but that the cab fare to Sinchon could cost well over 20,000... and club cover is close to 15,000. Not worth it.

I live in Incheon and therefore must travel to Seoul if I
want to experience any sort "cool" place with acceptable
music and atmosphere.

In Sinchon:

Woodstock - for the music
Nori(near Woodstock) - for music and dancing

none of the places i've been to in hongdae are big enough for me. i felt claustrophobic. no space to move around and dance.

i used to go to woodstock too, but the music is too loud.

I like Liquid Lounge. It's cool, laid back and plays good music.

I lived in Hongdae from ' 96 to 2000. Used to be great. I hate what it has become, beginning around '99 or so. The neighborhood, the nightlife, and the people had a lot of character then. It was kind of unique for Seoul, but walking around or being in a club there isn't all that different from being in Apgujong now. That's a tragedy.

I like liquid lounge, and most of the places on the same side street as it, Bar , "Jazz-rock", Agio (when the weather finally warms up), "Check It Out!" has good frozen soju coktails- especially the Aloe one, Lovo is great- pricey, but great for coktails, wine and snacks, Aura, the oldschool korean places down by the train tracks have a lot of character, N* B**ndar**s (shh!), and I'm not above going to US66 to get wasted.

I like the Maeoontang restaurant near Hongdae. Always a good crack in there.

The rest of Hongdae is overcrowded, overpriced and generally overrated.

Can't..........type....... laughing...........too.........hard.

Frankly, I don't go to Honky-dae any more. There are too many roadblocks when I'm driving home drunk.
