My ideal Hogwan would have one of two things:

1. A two-track approach whereby the calmer kids and / or those with some promise would be put into learning classes (about 1/2 the girls and 1/4 of the boys), and everyone else would go into a games class with sound-proof, padded walls. A FT would lead the latter in such educational gems as pig-in-the-middle and blindfold games, and a KT would take the kids from games class out in ones or twos and teach them to parrot a few sentences for the parents' meeting. In the learning class a FT and KT would be in the class at the same time, with every AV device at their disposal.

2. The class would have roller-coaster seats that come down and pin the pupils to their seats at the start of class. At the teacher's dispossible would also be sound-proof barriers that he could lower at the press of a button for any given seat. Children could have either the sound barrier or pinning device raised through good behaviour.

I must disagree with one or two points in previous statements. I have worked in 1 hour long classes and 50 minute classes and now I work for a school that is 40 minutes at its longest and 25 minutes is its shortest.

I find this way better than longer classes. The first few minutes are conversational and you can work up to the last minute without any problem. You don't stay long enough for the kids to get too bored and you don't need to play as many games.

If you have a bad class, sweet, you are out of there soon. The kids are some of the highest quality english speakers I have ever taught and it doesn't seem to limit thier learning.

I have found my current system to be absolutely the best and easiest I have ever encountered in Korea and my Kinder, toddler classes are of higher level than most that I have dealt with before. Ther may be here all morning but they get a wide range of teachers who really focus on different strenghts and it works.

So if it ain't broken why fix it. I seriously believe all Hog wons should implement the same time system. I am not a newbie, nor on my honeymoon, so I feel it is only fair to be able to say what I say.
